Chapter 17: Impressive

The monitor cycled though the runs of each girl in sequence their times collecting in the upper right corner.
2 minutes 11 seconds – Violet Rocket (the red head)
2 minutes 17 seconds – Cassidy Tomago (the blond)
2 minutes 05 seconds – Butch Monster (the brunette)
1 minutes 59 seconds – Jessie Mio
0 minutes 34.625 seconds – Jamie Carrera

While only five per team could compete per event all ten girls were in attendance, the 8 regulars and the 2 captains, there was also a handful of girls sitting next to their chosen companions in the locker room. Rules dictated that only women were allowed in the locker room of the teams but of course that was hardly in a problem with magical devices that could turn girls in magical girls or men into women, this Hiro and Alex sat among the girls as one of them, at least for the moment.

[And neither knew that their own girlfriends started like just like them, so don’t spoil anything okay?]

At the head of the gathering was Jessie, in full Coach mode, full dressed, standing erect and professionally, walking with slow deliberate steps, face a mask of focus and determination. It brought a smile to Jamie’s lips to see her...friend, that world still felt off, part of her wanted to say it without hesitation, but another, fading part, wanted to rip her face off for her humiliation that put her in the hospital.

‘Fucking cunt will spread her legs for that looser from the debate team,’ Jamie’s eyes shifted over to Alex(is), as she held down bile, and suppressed a growl, (but when I tried to show her the yokai express she kicked in the chestnuts with a flaming basketball.’

‘Bad girl!’

The growl evaporated as she sat upright, at attention, her body shaking in tension.

“You up for this?” Hiro says softly, taking a hold of Jamie’s clenched fist and gently brushing her fully brown hair out of her eyes a moment, “we could go back to the hotel room and rest.”

As Hiro’s lips touched her cheek all of Jamie’s rage abated and she started to relax, returning the kiss in the process, “I-I’m fine, j-just a little sore.”

“I hope nyu’rrrrre feeling betterrrr by the next round, we rrrrrrrrrrreally need nyu on nyourrr side.”

“Girrrrls!” Jessie growled, “don’t put all yourrrr hopes on Jamie and I. You arrrre the all starrrrr who got us this farrr, we are just yourrrr captains.”

Jamie smiled, standing to join Jessie, it felt good to get back into coaching, felt...natural, “That’s right, if anything you should be aspiring to out match us. We are your goal, your rivals! You need to reach deep down, find that fire and use it to push ahead of us!”

“B-But we’rrrre just n-norrrrrmal girrrrls, nyow,” one of the other girls, one with light blue hair, Billy, answered with desperation, “We don’t stand a chance against rrrrreal MGs.”

“Bullshit,” Jamie snapped, “I don’t even HAVE an inducer and look at my times,” though she regretted it immediately as her performance was the next on the replay including the, censored, slow mo of her clothes and board exploding as she crashed across the finish, ‘I’m never going to live that down.’

“Y-Yeah but you’rrrre a naturrrrral MG.”

“That’s just a theory,” Hiro rose to join her girlfriend, “remember professionals are still debating what happened, reviewing the medical post op, no one has a solid answer yet. And the interview with the first responder who was there to help Jamie right after the crash proposed that since she was a MG before the uh….incident...she still had the power inside her and in her need to win she tapped into that. Each and every one of you is a MG, have been a MG for months, the magic may be fading but the power is in each and every one of you, you just have to dig deep and grab it by the uh...tail...I guess.”

“Hiro is right,” Alexis stood next, her stature and the way she could project her voice reflected the confidence of the head of the debate club. “It was less then 30 years ago that man discovered the power of the X cromosome, of women, in that short time the MGs sore and reshaped the world. But this was not something new, only a discovery of how to harness what was already there. How to tap your infinite potential reliably. You all got to the nationals, with fading power, under your own grit and determination. Now that you know the extent of your condition, now that you can treat the less desirable conditions it’s time to take back the power buried deem in each one of you and show the world while the Jyuken High Wildcats are the best MGs EVER!”

“Wi-ld Cats! Wi-ld Cats! Wi-ld Cats!” Hiro started to chant, soon joined by Jessie, Alexis, Jamie and then the rest of the girls and their dates until the entire locker room was a symphony of cheering!”

“Nyow Wildcats let’s get out on the prrrractice field and get ready for the long jump!”

“YOU GOT CAPTAIN!”

“And in an upset that is taking the world by storm the Gyver City Juken High Wildcats have been shattering record after record.” The Pink Announcer pumped the audience, “after a rocky start that socred them dead last in the 2 mile dash, and less then stellar performance in the Magicball face off with Smile City’s Pretty Cure Allstars, followed by some of the slowest times ever seen on the slopes most people have written the Wildcats off, a sate tale of MGs who peaked early and burned out, a story that is all too common in the Nationals.”

“But after the starrrrtleing upset from Co-Captain Jamie Carrera,” the catgirl continued, the viewers at home witnessing a video recap from the middle of the race, cleverly leaving out the spectacularly embarrassing final jump. “which saw the previous record of 56.177 seconds shattered by over 20 seconds. The team no one thought stood a chance of even placing have been shattering previous records like it was going out of style!”

“In the Long Jump, where the world record, held for the last two decades by Rosalie ‘Jumpman’ Rose at 43 feet 8 inches, 13.5 feet, was shattered by every member of the Wildcats with the lowest number being 45 feet 3 inches, 13,8 meters for you metric folks at home. And their numbers in speed skating, Team Luge, wrestling, Bullet Dodge; don’t worry mothers at home those bullets are made of rubber, and Fast Ball Special; that’s launching one of your team mates as height and as far as possible for all you new viewers at home, have all easily taken the gold!”

“We arrrre witnessing history here folks, and everyone who choose nyot to get tickets for this game must be kicking themselves now!”

“One thing is for sure, the Juken High Wildcats wont have any trouble finding a new sponsor for their Inducers.”

“Assuming they even need them after this performance!”
