Magical Melody Cats 2nd Beat by *NekoLLX:iconNekoLLX:

Second Beat: Girl’s Night In

>Ding, dong<

The door swung open slowly to reveal a young girl, no older then 16, with long brunette hair and hazelnut eyes answering. On the outside was Myrrth, dressed in a simple white tee shirt and shorts. But no socks or shoes which left her standing on the steps in just her bare feet.

The girl squealed as she took Myrrth's bag, “We're so glad you could join us, I'll take your bag.”

“Thanks,” Myrrth smiled, her face flushing a bit. As the followed the older girl inside.

“The other girls are just about to change into their PJs, you brought some right?”

Myrrth nodded, “In my bag, but uh,” her cheeks flushed brightly, “Can I change in private.”

The girl paused and turned back tossing Myrrth back her bag, “Why? We're all girls here? Not like you have anything to hide.”

Myrrth tugged on her tail and ears a moment, “Last I check I was the only cat girl.”

The girl nodded and waved to the bathroom down the hall, “Take your time.”

Myrrth flushed red, and wandered off to the bathroom and slipped inside. Changing wasn't particularity difficult and the long shirt and pants combo of Myrrth's pajama perfectly accounted for her tail. Slipping back outside she followed her ears to the sound of girls talking to easily find the man room where a half dozen other girls were already in their pajamas laid out on blankets on the floor giggling. Myrrth hearth beat quickly ans she swallowed hard, a trickle of blood running down her nose.

“Uh....hi....girls...” she flusters as she finds a opening and settles down amongst girls, a light sweat beating her forehead as she wipes her nose.

“You OK Myrrth?” one girl asked.

“Can we call you Myrrth?” another asked cautiously.

Myrrth flustered, cheeks read as her eyes settled on the bust line of each girl, her mouth wagging ineligibly, “I er...uh...er...uh...I...”

When a hand landed on her shoulder she yowled and piratically leaps out of her skin. “What's wrong Myrrth?”

“Fighting Discords is easier then this...” she muttered.

“Relax, you among fellow girls,” one offered in a relaxing tone, handing Myrrth a cup of tee that the catgirl began to drink with shaking hands.

“Er yeah well...I...Kinda...you see...” Myrrth blubbered.

“Ok girls lets change subjects, maybe Myrrth will loosen up if we just let her talk about something shes more comfortable with.” the older girl said warmly.

Myrrth's heart rate slowed a touch as her tail and ears drooped, “T...thanks...I...I...don't have a lot of practice with o...other g...girls.” when she noticed her eyes had lingered a uncomfortably long time on the chest of on girl across from her she quickly looked away.

“So why do you call them Discords?” the same girl wondered aloud.

Myrrth closed her eyes and took a deep breath, “It's because they feed on negativity, discordance. Theirs malevolent spirits that feed, grow, and thrive on hate, anger, fear, prejudice, you name it.”

Myrrth took another sip and leaned back, she could handle questions like this.

“So why do you perform for them?” another girl asked.

“Its not for them its against them, their Discords, positive rhythm and energy weakens them. If I tried a frontal assault they wipe the floor with me. So since they appear when peoples negative emotions are stirred up...”

“I get it!” one girl exclaimed, she was shorter then the others with large rimmed glasses and short blond hair. “By raising the audiences spirits, the same audience that was feeding them...”

“They get weaker!” Another girl finishes.

“And I get stronger,” Myrrth finished. “Which is why my manges went with the who performance route and started selling CDs. The more buzz and positive energy I can bring to a fight the stronger I get and the easier The Discords are to beat.”

“So are their other cat girls out there?”

“No just me, thanks to the Harmony Bell's magic,” Myrrth regretted the words as soon as she said them, trying in vain to cover them up by covering her mouth.

“Harmony Bell?”

She sighed, “Its what turns me into a cat girl...I don't normally look like this...” she said nervously.

“Well we won't tell you can pow..” one girl began.

“Shh, it's obviously shes trying to keep a secret identity like those super heroes do, to protect her family.” another girl butted in.

Myrrth let out a sigh of relief.

“So thats why you were so nervous,” one girl commented, “Your not use to being powered up off duty.”

Myrrth just smiled, “I was invited as Myrrth and my managers felt I could use some girl time. Kinda hard to write songs without any girlfriends to muse off of.”

“Hey girls, I got a idea,” the older girl said as she stood, she vanished from the room for a moment and came back a second later dragging a large amplifier and mike. “Lets give our star singer a show, let her hear some other voices, might give her some muses.”

“I...I'd like that,” Myrrth purred.

One by one each girl began to sing, while none of them were perfect Myrrth's magically attuned ears could draw on the emotion behind the beats and it began to settle her heart. Soon she was as relaxed as the other girls, purring gently as the night wore on and then enjoyed fresh baked cookies, popcorn and a couple romance songs and generally had a good time. By the time midnight had rolled around Myrrth was so comfortable with the girls she wasn't even aware that the mike was in her hand and she was singing before the power of her voice and magic had put all the girls into a deep slumber. The contented looks on their faces only seemed to make her feel even calmer as she set the mike down and settling into rest for the rest of the night. She awoke late in the morning the next day, rising and stretching out on all fours to a empty room but her keen ears could hear the voices of the girls spread out across the house. Tracing the first batch of voices she followed it into the kitchen where a trio of girls were a flurry of movement cooking and setting places for dinner. Myrrth yawned as she rubbed her eyes but before she could even speak all three urned to her and smiled.

“Morning!”

“S...Sorry about last night...” Myrrth blurted out sheepishly.

The girls looked to her curiously a moment before getting back to work.

“Sorry?”
“For what?”
“I haven't felt this good in years!”

Myrrth smiled, “Got a little wrapped up, sang a lullaby and put everyone to sleep. How was your dreams?”

“Great!”
“Wonderful!”
“Magnificent.”

Myrrth smiled wider, “My magic amplifies and feed on positive energy like Discords do on the negative.” She paused a moment, “Where is everyone else?”

“We all woke up about the same time, and everyone seemed so jazzed, the 3 of us just had to get in her and cook.”

“I saw Amy take out her sketch pad and go crazy with a pencil before she headed into out to the porch.”

“And I think Jane and Kim are upstairs dancing and singing.”

Myrrth smiled, “Looks like my magic super charged all your Muses.”

Turning back around Myrrth yawned, “I still feel sleepy, can I go back to bed?”

The girls shrugged and she turned around, for a moment she paused back at her makeshift bed for last night but something in her stomach was tugging her elsewhere. Following her instincts Myrrth soon found herself at a small pillowed inset by a window, the warm sun beating down on he pillows as she climbed up and tucked herself into a ball. She was back asleep before she fully closed her eyes as she lie down. Hours passed as the cat girl slumbered. And it wasn't it late that evening that she was able to rise again, stretching out out like a feline and she drops onto the floor on hand and foot and looked around the empty home.

“Good evening Sleepy head.” Myrrth nearly leaps ouut of her skin as she stood bolt upright and turned to see the older girl giggled in the door frame. “You have a good sleep?”

Myrrth yawned, working to fog off her mind, “Guess I let a little to much energy seep out.”

“I don't think anyone minded, the girls, all of them, myself inclined were a tornado of energy all day, in fact I still feel ready to take on the world. At this rate we aren't going to be slowing down for days.”

Myrrth smiled just as her stomach rumbled, “You don't have to slow down, positive energy is exponential. If you put some of that magical Muse to use each day you can keep your energy up for a month at least.”

“Really,” The girl exclaimed excited, “Thats great!” then she smiled as she took Myrrth's hand leading the still sleepy cat girl to the kitchen when a large meal of sassauge, eggs, and pasta was waiting. In a instant Myrrth's ears and tail perked up ans she leap onto the table and dove into the food with all the charm of a animal. Behind the girl her parents came in next chuckling as they watched the cat girl food frenzy.

“She was hungry,” the father commented with a chuckle.

Suddenly, pasta still dripping from Myrrth's face she looked up, her eyes shinning, “Gotta go.” she blurted out as she leap off the table and blazed bast the trio.

“Wait, what's up?” th girl called as Myrrth bolted out the door.

“Theirs a Discord emerging, I can sense it.”

“But you were so tired before, you can't fight like that.”

“I'll be fine, my power feed off of positive energy,” Myrrth said as she ground to a halt. “At the party, when I wasn't doing anything, I was just bleeding off my positive energy. Once I get the crowd going I'll be in top form.”

“I'll get the girls, we'll fed you back some of your souped up energy.”

Myrrth smiled, “Thanks, just don't get to close to the fight. You just need to be in concert range. As long as my voice and dance can reach you we can both get the feedback.

“I'll inform the girls!”

“Thanks! I'm nothing without my fans!”

“This town would be nothing without you!”
